Riding is for those people who see not a horse but a spirit next to them.If you have it, it is for life. It is a disease for which there is no cure. You will go on riding even after they have to haul you on a comfortable wise old cob, with feet like inverted buckets and a back like a fireside chair... when I can't ride anymore, I shall still keep horses as long as I can hobble about with a bucket and a wheelbarrow. When I can't hobble, I shall roll my wheelchair out to the fence of the field where my horses graze, and watch them.

That is so me!! I will always have at least one horse!! As long as I breath!! I think it's a real sickness!! I hope just one of my kids has the love for horses like I do.

I so agree with your quote. It just makes me sad that I don't have a horse now or ride regularly. Good luck with the contest at my blog!

What a wonderful thought. We have always had them....time changes, events beyond one's control can change thoughts...and intentions.

What a nice way to describe your love of horses. I share the same passion but have to wait for my dream. So, for now I will enjoy the ride through your writing.
Thanks.

Yup — I've been infected with this for over 50 years.

Sorry, but evidence shows that the average horse owner has a horse for five years or less.

So, we are the truly infected with this wonderful obsession of horses if it lasts longer than 5 years. Horses are the best because they have the biggest hearts!

Isn't she a descendent of Charles Dickens? I read and re-read her book Talking of Horses when I was a teen. The passage sounds familiar...

I think Monica Dickens was the great-grand daughter of Charles Dickens
