Blog Carnival - Going Green!

Thanks to Lilbees for hosting the EtsyBloggers April 10th Blog Carnival!

Since April 22 is Earth Day... Let's Go Green!
1) What is green in your shop? (this can be something literally green in color, or something eco-friendly)
-OR-
2) What do you do (or what can you do!) to make your etsy business or home a little bit greener?

For my business, I re-use bubble mailers (so don't be alarmed if your outer packaging looks a tad bit bedraggled). I also use organza bags (can be reused for gifting) and metal tins for my lotion bars (reuse them to organize your jewelry or as a pill container).

At home we recycle, I also use reusable shopping bags. I have replaced most all of my light bulbs with CFL bulbs. The light is the same as regular bulbs, but these last 10 years and cut your electricity costs significantly.

I've also been trying to unplug things that I am not using. That way no phantom power is being used. Even when they are not “on”, your electronics are sucking down power, sometimes at almost 50% of what they use when fully on!

I've also started using eco-friendly cleaning products. They are much more readily available these days. Nature's Source natural cleaners are available at all major retailers, alongside their respective cleaners in the cleaning aisle.

I've been opting in for online statements to reduce paper (including my paystubs). I still feel like I get so much paper in the mail! Click here or here for the link of ways to stop all different types of junk mail. To add your name to the do-not-mail list, register online at https://www.dmachoice.org/dma/member/regist.action or download a mail-in form.

Now for some of my green items:

Inner Circle Necklace

Cool Breeze Prasiolite Earrings

Sterling and Serpentine Equestrian Charm Bracelet

The bangly bracelet is wonderful! Nice work. I love the little horsie accents. All the green stuff is right in my style.

I've found natural cleaners in the store to be a tad pricey. There are a whole lot of natural cleaners you can make yourself without buying much, vinegar, baking soda...of course if I actually cleaned it would take time away from my beading so hmmmmmm

It doesn't get much more organic and safe than water. Save money and the Earth and be clean at the same time...yes! Get serious and add Bathroom Bidet Sprayers to all your bathrooms. Available at www.bathroomsprayers.com with these you won't even need toilet paper any more, just a towel to dry off! It's cheap and can be installed without a plumber; and runs off the same water line to your toilet. You'll probably pay for it in a few months of toilet paper savings. And after using one of these you won't know how you lasted all those years with wadded up handfuls of toilet paper. Now we're talking green and helping the environment without any pain.
