Mazzy Update

I took the four hour drive up to see Mazzy today, and check on her progress. She has been in training for almost 60 days now and I was absolutely blown away at how well she is doing. It was so great to see her, I really have missed her. And I am so proud of her. Her cowboy says she is one of the nicest horses he has ever started, and that she is so willing and easy going. He asks her to do something and she says, okay let's go! She had the weekend off, and he just got right on her and away they went. No lunging needed - she is super quiet!!! I watched him work her for a while and then I got on. I was grinning from ear to ear. I have been waiting years for this moment! I love the way he has her going, she is so relaxed and moves off your leg. She walks, trots and canters and circles, stops on a dime, and backs. I think it is unbelievable that he was able to teach her all that in two months! She isn't perfect, but she is definitely headed in the right direction.

What a lovely post - you clearly have a great trainer and he's working with a great horse with a sound mind! Just think of all the issues you won't have since she's been started right!

I am really excited. Mazzy will be where she is for another month and then she will continue her training where I have my other horse. They specialize in hunters and are great with young green horses, but I wanted to bring her to the cowboy because his specialty is starting horses. He does a fantastic job and is super kind to them. After a few months with him, she will be ready for the next step.
