Last night I was working on something very special. Mountain Woman over at Red Pine Mountain is doing something very special for her 100th post. You'll have to go on over to read about it.
So here is what not to do....
I was making lotion bars and lip balms for Mountain Woman's very special "Operation Shoebox" package.
Let me begin by saying I get my beeswax to make my products from Mountain Rose Herbs. I love their quality. The beeswax is pure, filtered, cosmetic grade bees wax that comes from the Pacific Northwest. It is the best I have found very fragrant, clean, and perfectly filtered product without the debris and muddy color found in typical waxes.
The only problem is it comes in a block, and I am not sure the proper way to break it apart to weigh it, so I have been using a knife. It is very hard and solid! This IS NOT the best way I found out. I'm thinking of trying a cheese grater next time. I have tried the pastilles (much easier to weigh out) from other suppliers, but the quality just isn't the same.
3.2 oz, I'm half way there!Uh oh....
The knife broke and slipped (doesn't my cut look like lips?). It goes down pretty deep, Chad wanted to take me to get a stitch or two, but I couldn't be bothered. We wrapped it up (using the gauze from the doggie first aid kit) and I continued on.
I made Peppermint & Tea Tree Lip Balms. Feels cool and refreshing. Helps prevent and heal dry chapped lips. Ingredients: Beeswax, Mango Butter, Cocoa Butter, Sunflower Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Shea Butter, Candellila Wax, Almond Oil, Vitamin E, Peppermint & Tea Tree Essential Oils.
And Lotion Bars. I LOVE these. They are pure and natural solid hand and body butters made with skin-loving ingredients. Lotion bars create a unique moisture barrier to help heal dry skin, and are perfect for those who are in the desert! When you rub the lotion bar between your hands, your body temperature melts a small amount and the natural plant oils are quickly absorbed to leave your skin feeling soft and silky.
