Dog Beach

Murphy has been really depressed (along with us humans) about loosing his best buddy. Chad took him to the dog park, but he didn't feel like socializing much with the other dogs, how sad. Today we decided to take him to him most favorite place...the dog beach! He had fun but was kind of lost without his tag team partner. The routine was always he'd brave the waves for whatever object he was fetching and Kora would wait in the surf and grab it as soon as he got to her. He was completely happy with it, he actually dropped it for her and then we'd chase her around trying to get the ball back. She LOVED being chased. They had a perfect relationship.

It was a beautiful day.

Waiting for the ball

This little guy was all suited up in his life preserver.

Eerie....this dog came along and looked so much like Kora. She took the ball from Murphy and then went along her way. It gave both Chad and I the chills.

Redondo to Hermosa Beach Bike Ride

I'm not quite used to the kind of unseasonable heat we had this weekend. It was in the nineties on Sunday! I got up early to ride my horse and beat the heat, since the temperature swing is about 40 degrees from early morning to the height of the day. I rode a few other horses after mine, but got pretty wiped out as it started to heat up.

It was a great day to go to the beach where the temperatures are always cooler. We loaded up our beach cruisers and headed down to visit some friends...
We parked in Redondo at our friend's house, and then peddled down The Strand a couple of miles to Hermosa Beach to meet up with some more friends. A typical day on this path will see tons of people on foot, bicycle, skateboard, and rollerblade, Sunday was no different. Great for people watching.Sun, surf, sand, seaThere were lots of people playing volleyball, and there are always alot of surfers in the water. This cute little dog was happy as can be riding in the basket of a beach cruiser.
Hermosa Beach is well known for its happening nightlife, however the pedestrian-only Pier Avenue and its surrounding streets are buzzing all day. I'm not sure where the afternoon and evening went, but it was very late by the time we peddled back! Does not make for an easy Monday morning at work. My camera's battery died so only a few pictures.

Sunshiny Day

I had a great day with Chad, the dogs and my horse Mazzy. We found a beautiful meadow right above the beach in Malibu. Mountains on one side, ocean on the other....I could easily live in that exact location! The weather was perfect.

The dogs had fun exploring.

We then stopped at Neptune's Net for lunch.
Then went by to see my baby horse, Mazzy on the way back home
I stopped in the yearling pasture to visit with the babies and Buddy the donkey.

Dog Beach

Today the doggies got to enjoy a romp on the beach. They got to playwith a few Bulldogs, some boxers, lots of Labs, and quite a few small dogs (Murphy's favorite).
Waiting for the stick to be thrown....Murphy surfing in with his stick, and Kora anxiously waiting to steal it away from him.And she is successful.Murphy thoroughly enjoys the sand!
They will sleep well tonight :-)

Still enjoying my time off

I've been getting up early (the same time I would normally for work) in order not to get too out of sync from my work hours. I have been heading off to go ride at about 8:30 each morning. What a fantastic way to start each day! In addition to my own, I've been riding a few extra horses. Yesterday I rode six horses, and loved every minute of it! Today I started my day as I have been, went to the barn and rode. Kylie has been super, giving me something to look forward to everyday.

Today after riding, Chad, the dogs, and I took a drive down to Malibu for lunch at Neptune's Net (outdoor seafood dining with an ocean view). Afterwards, the dogs got to enjoy some fun on the beach.
